Surroundings
Our house and pool is very secluded with neighbours hidden from us by vegetation and the sloping terrain. it is reached by a small road which is a cul-de-sac so there is very little traffic. It is also very quiet and restful. You meet and get to know neighbours for example on the way to the village but you don’t feel overcome by crowds. for example our pool man lives just below our house (his family has been there for generations) but you can hardly see the house because of the slop.
More about the gite and inprovements
The house is perfect for living in at all times of the year. There is central heating and a large sitting room fireplace so it keeps the house beautifully warm. We have made very many improvements to the house, not least a beautiful French window with lovely views of Bargemon to the north. Completely rewired in 2016 with new alarm. Rooms redecorated also in 2016, and the house completely repainted in 2018! The swimming pool was relined in 2013 with a new pump. Also the central heating boiler was replaced in 2017. A new concrete drive to our house and the house next door was layed in 2012
Trips to the sea
It you want to go swimming in the Med, the best place is Frejus which is about 35 minutes’ drive. There are lovely clean beaches and good swimming opportunities in the centre of the town with lovely beach-side restaurants where you can eat after swimming. There are also large shopping centers at Puget sur Argens, with Carrefour, 30 minutes away on the way to Frejus.
Local facilities
Our house has its own boule area under a pagoda. locally there is a ball park (3 minutes from the house) and a municipal tennis court at Bargemon, 5 minutes’ drive from the house. The area is surrounded by hills so it provides very good walking and hiking areas. The incredibly spectacular Gorges du Verdon is only 30 mins drive away and there are lakes close at hand where you can sail or canoe. There are an abundance of very good restaurants in and around Claviers and the surrounding area. Especially worth noting are Hostellerie des Gorges de Pennafort, 15 minutes drive, Gloire de Mon Père and Hotel des Deux Rocs in Seillans. Following the old railway track from Grasse to Draguinan through Claviers, Callas etc. is a facinating view back in time and provides a beautiful walking route through delightful Provence!
