The house is located between the Cathar castles and the Mediterranean coast an hour away, and the Pyrenees mountains. The winters are gentle and summer/autumn warm, dry and long. There are 6000 feet mountains within 15km and the 9000+ feet peaks and Pyrenees national parks one hour away, offering 9 french ski stations and beyond the vast ski areas of Andorra. Around the village there are south facing mediterranean slopes with wild thyme, lavender and rosemary, numerous shady forest tracks to walk and cycle on hot summer days and the impressive St George gorge. In the valley below, there are many activities including rafting, kayaking, fishing and swimming in an outdoor pool. There are also 4 picturesque lakes offering safe swimming within 30 minutes drive.
The towns of Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse and Narbonne are easily accessed and offer many touristic sites/cultural events, railway stations, airports (Narbonne is served by Bezier airport) and motorway access to Montpellier and Girona in an hour and Barcelona in under 2 hours.
