St. Claud provides the residents of Chez Chadiat with everyday amenities such as restaurants/bars, newsagents, patisseries, butchers and a convenience store. Supermarkets can be found in Chasseneuil which is approximately 10 minutes drive from chez Chadiat.
Within a fifteen minute drive from Chez Chadiat the town of La Rochefoucauld can be discovered with its imposing 11th century Chateau known locally as ‘Pearl of the Angoumois’. The Chateau is a remarkable building magnificently overhanging the Rive Tardoire. The town also boasts an array of restaurants/bars, shops and Hpermarche. A market can be visited here on a Saturday morning where local fresh produce, including fresh fish, are sold by local farmers.
Situated within a 20 minute drive from Chez Chadiat is the beautiful medieval town of Confolens which sits at the confluence of the Vienne and Goire rivers. A stroll around this medieval town is a treat as you admire the 13th Century fortified Vieux Bridge and the beautiful houses on the banks of the Rivers. A boat trip can be taken too. During August the town attracts over 150 thousand visitors to its International Folklore Festival. An event of popular arts and traditions. During the year, many associations of the town arrange various festivals and events including, spring markets and choirs.
The beautiful city of Angouleme is within a 45 minute drive of Chez Chadiat. Angouleme lies alongside the River Charente and is famous for its International Comic Book Festival, the Classic Car Race, the Circuit des Ramparts, and the Cathedrale Saint-Pierre d’Angouleme with its Romanesque architectural and sculptural traditions.
The city of Poitiers is within a one hour drive of Chex Chadiat. This large city is home to many historical buildings including the Romanesque Church of Eglise Notre-Dame La Grande and the Palace of Poitiers. Futuroscope is also in the vicinity of Poitiers.
The outdoor pursuits of fishing and golfing are within a 30 minute drive of Chez Chadiat.
Getting There.
The nearest airport which is a 1 hour drive from Chez Chadiat is Limoges. Flights to Limoges depart the UK from Southampton, Bristol, East midlands, Manchester and Leeds Bradford.
Flights can also be taken to Bordeaux which is located 1 hour 30 minutes from Chez Chadiat. Flights to Bordeaux depart the UK from Bristol, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Heathrow, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Ferries can be taken. The driving time to Chez Chadiat from Calais is approximately 7 hours and St.Malo 4 hours.
Eurostar train can also be taken from London to Angouleme. There is then a connecting train from Angouleme to Chasseneuil.
