The Pas de Calais may not get the heat and sunshine of the Mediterranean, but it does have a beautiful coastline and many opportunities to enjoy the beach, the sea and associated sports. Le Touquet (33kms) is the place to try your hand at sand yachting, if you have a yen for serious speed! The immediate countryside surrounding the town is perfect for walking too. For fans of white water sports, look no further than the River Canche, on which the town lies. It's brilliant for kayaking. The region is also one of the premier golfing destinations in France, with Le Touquet leading the way.
